By Bob Gish There are lots of guitarists out there, thank goodness playing lots of styles, with a multitude of tones and techniques. And with any instrument guitar recordings represent the good the bad and the ugly. Tony Hughes is in not just the good group he's a notch above into the excellent group. All of which amounts to awarding a grade A to I Remember You and Hughes' performance. All eight tunes are well known standards clearing the path for general audience acceptance and accesibility. The introduction to Stella by Starlight affords listeners a stellar solo performance inviting wishes of more of the same. It's something of a continuing pattern for Hughes to begin each tune alone, and then when the trio hits the head again satisfaction is kicked up a notch as Hughes goes into sustained facile solos. "Black Orpheus" is a standout in this regard, complete with Latin even flamenco flourishes complimented by high octane octave riffs and Nelson providing just the right clave effects.   Those satisfactions solo and group, continue throught. Hughes is great with chord melodies single lines and comping. Andrew Nelson does his part with aplomb and Todd Yoder ties it all together, be it with brushes or sticks. Clearly we have three amigos here, these kindred spirits not to be forgotten-or in terms of the project, a Hughes and company to be remembered.
